The A. M. Qattan Foundation’s Arts and Culture Programme is implementing a 5-year subgranting project funded by the Consulate General of Sweden represented by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), titled “Visual Arts: A flourishing Field’ (VAFF) Project. VAFF aspires to achieve a more sustainable, vibrant and innovative visual arts field in Palestine, aiming on the long-term to contribute to the development of a Palestinian society that embraces freedom of expression and produces knowledge and arts.
The project aims to achieve the following outcomes:
- Enhanced institutional capacity and sustainability of visual arts organisations.
- Art education programmes, learning and research opportunities are further developed and made available for art students, artists, and professionals.
- Art institutions are active in extending support to artists and art professionals to produce innovative works and community-based art projects.
VAFF provides Palestinian-registered nonprofit visual arts organisations and academic institutions with core and programmatic grants ranging between $100,000 – $300,000 per organisation that would free up resources and leave the organisations more time for planning, implementing and reflecting on their basic work, including production, education programmes, dissemination and audience build-up. Not only will this project benefit organisations which have a clear long-term vision and well established programmes, but it will also be open for art collectives and emerging, promising and innovative art organisations in the making.
Throughout the project period (2017-2022), two calls for proposals will be issued in 2017 and in 2019.
