Family Literacy and Early Childhood

Home Cultural Programmes Family Literacy and Early Childhood

In an effort to support parents as the first teachers of their children, and to enable them to instill a love of reading in their children from an early age, the QCC has launched the Family Literacy and Early Childhood Programme, targeted at parents of children under the age of six and childcare professionals.

The programme teaches parents and children to explore the world around them, through joint parent-child activities that encourages learning through playing, using puppets, storytelling, books, and other library resources. The programme also promotes engagement with technology, the arts, and science, through day trips, courses and seminars.

Through its affiliate, the Parents Club, the programme offers diverse activities that are specifically designed for parents and childcare professionals.
