Gaza – (A. M. Qattan Foundation):
The Child Centre – Gaza (CCG) / A. M. Qattan Foundation (AMQF) participated in a workshop, titled ILLUSTRATION. Implemented by Goethe Institut, the workshop was held over two days, 27-28 November 2018. The training was delivered by German trainer and writer Nadia Budde from the Goethe Institut.
The workshop aimed at providing capacity building to professionals who work with children to help encouraging the love of reading among children by means of practical and interactive applications. The training targeted 25 trainees from the CCG, Tamer Institute for Community Education, and Al-Maghazi Community Rehabilitation Society.
Budde used a book, titled Choose Something, but Quickly, as a basis for the workshop activities. Published by Fischerverlag, the book includes a combination of comics and stories about children’s memories and feelings. Budde delivered similar training workshops in several countries around the world, bringing together both young people and adults.
At the end of the workshop, participants produced children’s booklets, including memories and paintings of childhood.
The workshop was organised in the context of the Dialogue Corner for Children, implemented by the CCG in collaboration with the Goethe Institut. The projects contributes to providing new tools and games for learning, promoting children’s engagement in play and interaction with their peers. Children can further share their experiences and develop strategies for social interaction and self-learning.
