Gaza – (A. M. Qattan Foundation):
On Tuesday, 27 November 2018, a delegation of the Belgian Development Agency (ENABEL) – Jerusalem Office visited the Child Centre – Gaza (CCG) / A. M. Qattan Foundation. Nehaia Abu Nahla, CCG Director, received the delegation.
The visit aimed at exploring opportunities for collaboration and viewing the CCG experience in the Simulation in Teaching Science using the Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) Methodology programme. A presentation on STEAM was made by Assef Al-Khozondar, STEAM Programme Implementing Officer.
The ENABEL delegation included Evelien Masschelein, International Educational Advisor, Alxis Doucet, International Technical Advisor – Infrastructure, Laure Mostinckx, Monitoring and Evaluation Expert, and Haneen Abu Nahla – Gaza Programme Manager.
The delegation was also briefed about the CCG operations, activities, programmes, and projects.
The CCG has been implementing the STEAM methodology since 2016 in collaboration with parents and children. The programme seeks to improve learning capacities among children and allow an opportunity for experimentation, exploration, and reading for knowledge. STEAM contributes to enhancing children’s educational attainment, particularly in science and mathematics, using project- and problem-based learning approaches. STEAM also involves a series of activities which highlight complementarity between science, mathematics, engineering and art, as well as the linkage between these disciplines and the library.
