The A. M. Qattan Foundation is seeking to recruit a highly motivated individual for the position of Assistant Curator to work in its offices in Ramallah. Following is the description of this position:

 

Job Title: Assistant Curator

Job Type: Full time

Line of Responsibility: Director of Public Programme

Work Location: Ramallah

 

Job Objectives:

Efficiently contributing to development and delivery of public projects and events within the Public Programme, using a participatory approach with the relevant staff and partners and in line with the Foundation’s vision and strategic directions.

 

Detailed Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate, implement and follow up projects and events planned by, or in partnership with the Public Programme, in full coordination with the Programme Director, relevant staff and partners.
  • Fully responsible for compiling, preparing, and drafting all necessary visual and written materials, relevant to projects’ publications as assigned by the Programme Director, including flyers, posters, advertisements, and media material.
  • Follow up applications submitted to the Programme (open calls, proposal submissions, …etc) and ensure, proper and transparent selection process, by relevant Foundation members and committees, and convey results timely to applicants.
  • Prepare and submit proficient research to the Programme Director on topics related to the projects themes and the general thematic directions undertaken by the PP.
  • Responsible for compiling visual and text material for drafting and producing the annual booklet of the events conducted by the PP.  
  • Ensure that the technical and design riders are met to all assigned events, in terms of the availability of equipment, proper technical installation as well as proper aesthetics of the setting. 
  • Contribute to preparation of the Programmes’ annual work plans and budgets.
  • Represent the Foundation at public events, including meetings and networking on behalf of the organization as seen appropriate.
  • Responsible for the organized tours for exhibition and other Foundation events including introducing PP events where appropriate.
  • Compile information for labels and text panels, write interpretative material for the Foundation and programme publications, website, and exhibition where applicable.
  • Compile events guest lists in collaboration with PR and Communications.
  • Supervise seasonal staff, interns and volunteers for specific projects and events within the Public Programme as required.
  • Keep Programme records and materials archived and filed in an easily accessible, updated, and well-classified forms both electronically and/or in hard copies, where applicable (this include events files, records and materials).
  • Develop and regularly update the Programme’s data bases including contacts.
  • Prepare for projects’ meetings, draft minutes and follow up recommendations.
  • Provide all necessary support to the Programme Director.
  • Any other duties as requested by the Programme Director.

 

Skills/Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor degree in Cultural Management, or other related field.
  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience, preferably in community-based project planning and coordination.
  • Interest and knowledge of the arts and culture scene in Palestine, and the region at large.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects with tight deadlines and potentially competing interests.
  • Excellent knowledge and command of computer Microsoft office programmes.
  • High communications skills, good networking and team work abilities.
  • Excellent time management skills with attention to details.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in both Arabic and English.
  • Occasionally, flexible work hours are required to accommodate evening and weekend activities.
