On Wednesday, 25 October 2017, the Science Studio hosted Sundus, Sadeen and Shahd, three hard working students, as well as their classmates at the Al-Qabas School for Visually Impaired Students of the Friends of the Blind Association.
Sundus, a 10th grader, said that she was particularly interested in the We Understand Each Other exhibit. It features verbal communication between two partners who sit opposite each other. The first person has to arrange wooden geometric shapes and describe their final position so that the opposite person imitates without seeing him or her. This way, Sundus had to think of ways of transmitting information to others more accurately and clearly.
The students’ teacher Jana Zeidan had participated in scientific events organised by the A. M. Qattan Foundation (AMQF). Building on her creative teaching of science in class, Jana rewarded her students with a scientific school trip to the Science Studio - an AMQF project implemented in partnership with the Ramallah Municipality.
The Science Studio constantly receives school students of different age groups. Since it was inaugurated on 15 October 2017, the Science Studio has hosted students from more than 25 schools in Ramallah, Qalqiliya, Tulkarem, Jerusalem, Jenin, Bethlehem and Nablus. On their visits, students interacted with the scientific exhibits as well as with the educational and artistic activities designed by a team of science exhibit developers and researchers.
