On 12 October, Science Days Palestine (SDP), hosting the Science Films Festival (SFF), was launched for the third consecutive year at Souk al Harajeh and the Ottoman Court in old city Ramallah.
SDP is organised and funded by the A. M. Qattan Foundation, Al-Nayzak Foundation, Institute Français, Goethe Institute and Ramallah Municipality, in partnership with Birzeit University and in cooperation with several schools, universities, and a number of local and international organisations.
This year’s SFF focused on light and optics. It coincided with UNESCO’s announcement of 2015 as the International Year of Light and Light-Based Technologies. The festival also addressed the subjects of sustainability, environment and environmental care.
SDP contained a variety of activities including science shows, interactive exhibitions and exciting scientific experiments in addition to scientific workshops and forums. The audience explored and learned about light through 21 science film screenings.
