On 9 February, the Walid and Helen Kattan Science Education Project in collaboration with the Halhoul and Dura Teachers’ Forums, organised a science day at the Daqiqa Primary School to the east of Yatta - Hebron.
The day included Science Snacks activities, which consists of simple scientific experiments from everyday environments and aimed at children and their families. Scientific films were also screened during the day, followed by interactive experiments based on the films. On show was a collection of handicrafts and artworks inspired by the stories about science that the children had been told during the day.
The science day activities were led by students volunteering from different schools in Halhoul and Dura. In preparation for it, a training workshop for volunteers and students was held by the Project’s researchers. Participants in these workshops learned how to perform and manage the day’s activities.
