On 3 February, the Qattan Centre for the Child, in cooperation with UNRWA and public schools, launched the third 'My Country’s Monuments' programme. Thirty students from the 3rd grade at the Mamounia School for Refugees took part in the programme aimed at enhancing the children’s knowledge of the their heritage, and the importance of preserving it. Drama and role-play were used to introduce the children to heritage sites in Gaza, who also took field trips to these places.
Various workshops were held during which the children spoke, in character, about their experiences of heritage sites - playing the parts of experts in archaeology and heritage. Drama and art workshops are being organised at the sites themselves throughout the programme, which concludes mid-April.
