Home In Qattan News Professional Development Exchange Programme Launched

On Monday, February 6, the exchange programme under the ‘Professional Development of Early Childhood Educators’ Project was launched. The program is organized by AMQF’s Educational Research and Development Programme (ERDP) and is to be held in the UK.

Five Palestinian kindergarten teachers will take part in the program, under the supervision of AMQF’s Director of the Languages and Social Sciences Stream, Malek Rimawi, and researcher Vivian Tannous.

The program involves three stages: the Palestinian teachers will first visit Woodrow First School in the UK, which applies the Mantle of the Expert approach at the nursery and elementary school levels. This will allow them to apply the said  methodology first-hand within prescheduled classes and experience its implementation in a real social context. This unique educational approach should create more efficiency and depth in local education and give new strength to the formal school system.

In the second stage, participants from both Palestine and the UK will begin jointly planning their classes. The third stage will consist of hosting the UK teachers in the participating Palestinian kindergartens to review and implement lesson plans with their Palestinian counterparts.
