Fida Touma Appointed Director General of the A. M. Qattan Foundation
The Board of Trustees of the A. M. Qattan Foundation is delighted to announce the appointment of Fida Touma as its new Director General to take effect from 1 January 2019, following the retirement of Ziad Khalaf.
Speaking of the decision, Omar Al-Qattan, Chairman, said: “We would like to express our deepest gratitude to our colleague Ziad Khalaf, who has served the foundation since its inception with exceptional talent, skill and commitment overseeing its growth and its many successes in Palestine, Lebanon and the UK for more than twenty years.
We also look forward to a future of renewal, achievement and innovation under the leadership of Fida Touma who will no doubt bring ambition, innovation and focus to the role. We believe that a successful organisation is one that is constantly able to renew itself through a process of continuous review and careful planning.
Touma originally joined the Foundation at the beginning of August 2017 as Deputy Director General. She has a master’s degree in Public Policy and Administration from the University of Massachusetts, USA, and a bachelor’s degree in Architecture from Birzeit University, Palestine.
Previously she was at the Welfare Association – Taawon, where she directed the Revitalisation and Culture Programme in the Old City of Jerusalem. Her work there focussed on developing programmes and partnerships, planning and management, and on supporting the residents of the Old City and the protection of its architectural heritage.
Before that Touma was first coordinator of regional partnership planning and then co-director of the Riwaq Centre for Architectural Conservation in Ramallah.
