The science festivals are organised as part of an annual scientific educational programme held in different parts of Palestine.
Science Days Palestine is organised by a number of organisations including A. M. Qattan Foundation including the Science Studio and the Child Centre in Gaza, the Goethe-Institute and the French Institute, the Ramallah Municipality, and Al Nayzak Organization for Supportive Education and Scientific Innovation. SDP takes place in October/November of every year since 2010. The programme targets children and their families, as well as school students and their teachers. It aims to stimulate children’s passion for science in selected scientific themes, and to present those themes through scientific films, panel discussions, activities, experiments and exhibits.
The festivals are implemented in partnership with cultural and educational organisations, and are run by teachers and early childhood educators who are involved in the Education Programme. In its last edition in 2017 SDP ran over a month from 17 October-20 November 2017, its activities reached out to 16 different cities in both the West Bank and Gaza, and visitors amounted up to 23,301 visitors.
