Book Launch: "Justice for Some" - Noura Erekat
Time and Location: at A.M. Qattan Foundation in Al-Tira, Ramallah, at 6:00 p.m.
Justice for Some offers a new approach to understanding the Palestinian struggle for freedom, told through the power and control of international law. Focusing on key junctures—from the Balfour Declaration in 1917 to present-day wars in Gaza—Noura Erakat shows how the strategic deployment of law has shaped current conditions. Over the past century, the law has done more to advance Israel's interests than the Palestinians'. But, Erakat argues, this outcome was never inevitable.

Topsy-Turvy is loosely based on the lives of impresarios Gilbert and Sullivan, specifically their dramatization of their legendary 1885 comic opera The Mikado. Witty and full of authentic Victorian detail, this period drama account of the lives of the musical duo concentrates on the good-natured antagonism between them, marking a rather dramatic departure for Mike Leigh as a filmmaker.

Film Screening: Valerie and Her Week of Wonders (1970)
Time and Location: at A.M. Qattan Foundation in Al-Tira, Ramallah, at 6:00 p.m.
85 mins. | 18+ | Czech with Arabic Subtitles | Czechoslovakia
Director: Jaromil Jireš
One of the central works of the Czechoslovak New Wave, Valerie and Her Week of Wonders is the surreal fantasy of a girl on the verge of womanhood who finds herself in a sensual fantasyland of vampires, witchcraft and other threats in this eerie and mystical movie daydream. A nonlinear, grown-up version of a fairy tale, this simultaneously enticing and macabre work provides a decidedly creepy look at “growing up.”
